Cute Stuff

Today after class I wandered to Trader Joe's.....and ended up buying ingredients for this! Mini buns (of 8), mini patties (of 8), lettuce, cheese, grilled onions, bbq sauce MIXED with sriracha sauce. It's gooooood that way! It was really messy though but it's a fun food to eat. I will make it again when people come over to eat haha.

crunchy sweet potato fries, baked for 15 minutes.

so little and cute!

lava cake :) After I ate this I felt like I shortened my life for 10 minutes.
in the spirit of valentines day everything is pink.

a little too fudgy though...
my roommate bought these bunny, chick, and lamb m&ms. adorable!

Belated V-Day

Someone special made this for me for dinner yesterday. How sweet :)
Lobster tail drenched in butter, seasoned, and broiled for 10 minutes or so.

yum!
Garlic and butter clam pasta
Actually I made the pasta but it was a collective effort. Trader joes- steamed clams ready in 5 minutes. EASY! For the sauce I mixed 5 cloves of chopped garlic, 1/2 a stick of melted butter, milk, salt and parsley, and some flour to make it thicken, with cooked bow tie noodles. Then, sprinkle cheese on top!
Anyways this may be late but who cares :)

Driving Around LA

So yesterday my friends and I decided to have an adventure in LA. We ended up at this small colorful Mexican place called Carnitas Michoacan to eat tacos.

I ordered 1 carne asada taco, 1 chicken taco, and 1 carnita taco. Each taco was pretty cheap, something like $1.35 per taco. too bad the whole menu was in Spanish so I didn't really understand most of what was on the menu haha. The tacos also come with a side of 2 radishes, yea just regular raw radishes. To clean your palate maybe? anyways, the tacos were very flavorful and had a lot of spices in it. They marinated the meat well. It they also had small packets of salsa that made it taste more spicy and yummy. It was a little on the salty side though but overall it was very good.

After wandering LA all day, we went to Hae Jang Chon Korean BBQ Restaurant for dinner.

It's located in ktown and most people pay $2 for valet parking. Even though I've been here a couple times before, I forgot how good this place was. It was a lot better then the place we usually go in Irvine. The service was really great. We got seated in less then 15 minutes on a saturday night around 7 pm. Even though none of us spoke korean, all the waiters and waitresses were super nice to us! and they cleaned our grill FOUR whole times. And they had a large variety of meats to choose from. We tried a lot of meat last night but I think what stood out the most was the brisket and the pork belly. Brisket dipped in sesame oil and salt + lettuce and wrapped in rice paper...amazing. I stuffed my face. Also, when you are done with the meat they give you delicious kim chi fried rice. As it is sizzling on the grill the rice turns crispy and delicious! we finished it all even when we were stuffed with meat already. It cost $22 total per person for all you can eat if you dont order any drinks. My friend ordered a beer with his meal and his total came out to be $28.

brisket yum yum yum
thick pork belly
kim chi fried rice and bean soup at the end!

Well worth it for a GREAT meal!

Fat Fish

Last week I went to this all you can eat sushi place called Tomo Sushi for my friend Josh's 21st birthday.Even though I've never been there before, I decided to have everyone try it because it got 4 stars on Yelp! I really really like to Yelp. ( I was getting sick of calibeach too...)We got there around 9 on a monday night, and because my boyfriend spoke korean and the waitress was korean, we received really nice service throughout the evening. Even though the restaurant was small, it felt really homey because of all the small details in the decorations. The sushi came out slow, and we ordered a lot because it was a group of 13 hungry guys. When the food finally came, the portions of fish was realllllllllllly generous. Every piece had a huge slab of sushi with like 10 grains of rice below it. The fish tasted fresh and everything tasted damn good. I also liked their lobster baked rolls and fried oysters. For the all you can eat menu you can get almost any appetizer, which includes vegetable and shrimp tempera, miso soup, baked mussels and fried oysters, even korean bqq short ribs, all the different types of fish with the exception of two or 3, and all types of rolls. It costs $25 per person for dinner and $22 for lunch. The waitress even gave the birthday boy free fried green tea ice cream and the sushi chefs sang him a sappy song. If you like raw fish, and want to eat a lot of it I suggest you go to there.

Bring a korean speaking buddy if you want to be treated extra nice.

Beginning of My BLOG and Chinese New Year!

Hi everyone! Happy Chinese New Year! I went home to norcal for the 3 day weekend to celebrate chinese new year with my family, and while I was here I've obviously ate a shitload of food, and I was looking at some other foodblogs and they inspired me to make my own. Don't think this is going to be super cool and trendy because its not. Its just going to be me, posting pictures of food, from different restaurants or at home, and writing some stuff about it. fun fun fun! this should be interesting. Hope I dont get lazy and stop in like, a month.
